CLASSIC FORD GARAGE
1966 SHELBY GT-350 SFM6S1520
Candy Apple Red - Black Inter.- 289-306 H.P. 4-Speed- We purchased this car in 1980 -  Very good car with all the original body panels - 100%
original interior - We have the original window sticker, paper work, and log book. List price new was $4675.00.  It won best 66 Shelby at the
1975 SOA Shelby Convention. It also won the most desirable Shelby at the 1977 SAAC Shelby Convention. The car is pictured with a set of the
factory magnesium R model wheels that were only used on the race models.   (FACTS)  There were 2378 Shelbys produced in 1966; consisting
of 1365 standard GT-350s, 1000 Hertz cars, 4 convertibles, 4 drag cars, and a couple prototypes.  The first 250 1966s were left over 1965s.
The first 1000 had over-ride traction bars; whereas, the next 1378 had under ride traction bars. They offered a single 4-barrel carb or a
Paxton supercharger.  You could also get a 2x4 barrel carb dealer installed setup.  There were 5 different kinds of wheels offered for  1966s.
Early cars had the 65 model Cragars.  Later cars got 10-spoke aluminum wheels, painted "Magnums," chrome "Magnums", or special order "R"
model racing magnesium wheels.  The serial numbers on the early Shelbys were unique because the tag/plate was rivoted over the Ford
serial number.  For instance, SFM6S1520, translates
Shelby Ford Mustang,  "6" means 1966, "S" means street car ("R" means race car),  then
the number is the consecutive number 1 thru 2378.  Only the Shelby American Club knows what Ford number goes with the Shelby number
which makes it impossible to fake a real Shelby without getting caught when you go to sell it. The Shelby Club has kept e registry on these
cars since new and has extensive paperwork on all cars.  All of our cars are registered with the Shelby Club SAAC . Before buying any Shelby
or Cobra always get it authenticated from the Club.  SHELBY- AMERICAN (1963-1970) WAS THE ONLY AMERICAN CAR COMPANY TO EVER WIN
THE WORLD MANUFACTURES RACING CHAMPIONSHIP AND THAT WAS IN 1965.
